Siemens to Build First U.S. Bullet Train Factory for Brightline West, Linking Southern California and Las Vegas at 220 mph
Sep 9, 2024, 05:37 PM
Siemens has announced plans to build the first U.S. bullet train factory, which will produce high-speed rail cars for Brightline West. The trains, capable of reaching speeds up to 220 mph, will operate between Southern California and Las Vegas, reducing travel time to about 2 hours, including a stop at the Rancho Cucamonga station. Brightline West has finalized a contract with Siemens for the manufacturing of these trains. The rail cars will be produced in Upstate New York, leveraging the region's strong rail car manufacturing capabilities. This initiative is part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, with the rail cars to be maintained in Southern Nevada by union labor.
