Johnson & Johnson Raises Baby Powder Settlement Offer to Over $8.2 Billion; 83% of Plaintiffs Agree
Sep 20, 2024, 07:55 PM
Johnson & Johnson has increased its offer to settle thousands of lawsuits alleging its baby powder caused cancer to more than $8.2 billion, up from a previous offer of $6.5 billion. The company announced that its subsidiary, Red River Talc LLC, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the third time to resolve current and future ovarian cancer talc claims. This move is part of J&J's strategy to advance the proposed $10 billion settlement and put an end to years of litigation. A majority of baby powder users, 83% of plaintiffs, have agreed to back the settlement offer.
