Rambam Hospital in Haifa Moves Newborns Underground Amid Hezbollah Rocket Fire
Sep 22, 2024, 02:12 PM
Rambam Hospital in Haifa, the largest hospital in northern Israel, has announced the partial suspension of its services in several departments due to security preparations for potential conflict. According to Army Radio, the hospital has moved patients, including newborns, to its underground medical complex, which is now fully operational. This includes a new maternity ward and neonatal intensive care unit located over 50 feet below the surface. The hospital's parking lot has been converted into an emergency department. These measures are in response to escalating attacks from Hezbollah, which have prompted Israeli hospitals in the north to cancel non-urgent operations and move operating rooms to more protected areas amid rocket fire.
