Matthew Farwell Arrested for Murdering Pregnant Sandra Birchmore, Staging Suicide
Aug 28, 2024, 10:19 PM
Former Stoughton police officer Matthew Farwell has been arrested and indicted on charges of murdering Sandra Birchmore, a 23-year-old pregnant woman, in 2021. Authorities allege that Farwell, who had been involved in a sexual relationship with Birchmore since she was a minor, strangled her in her Canton apartment and staged her death to look like a suicide. The FBI's Boston SWAT team arrested Farwell without incident, and he is accused of trying to prevent Birchmore from revealing their relationship and her pregnancy. Federal prosecutors have taken jurisdiction over the case, and a press conference was held to announce the charges.
