RFK Jr. Announces Trump White House to Advise Removal of Fluoride from Water on January 20, Citing Health Risks
Nov 3, 2024, 12:13 AM
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced that, if Donald Trump is elected, the Trump White House will advise all U.S. water systems to remove fluoride from public drinking water starting January 20. Kennedy cited health risks associated with fluoride, including arthritis, bone fractures, bone cancer, IQ loss, neurodevelopmental disorders, and thyroid disease. He described fluoride as an industrial byproduct. This proposed policy marks a significant departure from current public health practices, which have long endorsed water fluoridation as a measure to prevent tooth decay. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and many dentists consider fluoridation a major public health success. There is ongoing scientific debate about the safety of fluoride, and in September 2024, a federal court ruled against the EPA in a lawsuit over fluoride in water.
