Milwaukee election commission's final report
Milwaukee to Recount 31,000 Absentee Ballots After Tabulator Issues Delay Results
Nov 5, 2024, 10:56 PM
Milwaukee election officials announced that approximately 31,000 absentee ballots will be recounted due to issues with tabulating machines. The recount was prompted after an election observer noticed that panels on some ballot tabulators were not properly closed and one machine was not properly sealed. The problem involved ballot stickers and glass doors on the machines. Out of an abundance of caution, all 13 affected tabulating machines are being reset to zero, and the ballots will be retabulated to ensure accuracy. The recount is expected to delay the reporting of election results in the city.
