Colt and Colin Gray Indicted in Georgia School Shooting; Four Dead, Nine Wounded
Oct 17, 2024, 05:55 PM
On October 17, a Georgia grand jury indicted 14-year-old Colt Gray and his father, Colin Gray, on multiple charges, including murder, following the deadly shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. On September 4, Colt allegedly killed four people—two students and two teachers—and wounded nine others, marking the deadliest school shooting in the state's history. Investigators revealed that the teen had meticulously planned the attack, documenting his intentions in a notebook that included estimated casualty counts and sketches of the school's hallways and classrooms. Authorities also discovered that Colt maintained a 'shrine' above his home computer dedicated to previous school shootings, including a photo of Nikolas Cruz, the gunman in the 2018 Parkland, Florida shooting. On the day of the attack, he concealed a long gun inside a poster board resembling a school project to bring it onto the school bus. Prosecutors stated that Colt's parents, Colin Gray and Marcee Gray, had planned to take him to a behavioral center in Athens on August 31, but that never happened. Colin Gray faces 29 counts, including second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter, while his son faces 55 counts including murder.
