Kenyan Authorities Arrest Collins Khalisia, Suspect Confesses to 42 Murders in Kware
Jul 16, 2024, 09:08 AM
Kenyan authorities have arrested Collins Khalisia, the prime suspect in the Kware murders, where nine bodies have been recovered from a quarry. Khalisia, aged 33, was apprehended in Kayole following forensic analysis of a mobile phone linked to one of the victims, Josephine Owino. Upon his arrest, police recovered crucial evidence from his residence, including 24 Airtel SIM card holders, eight phones, a laptop, a machete, and 12 nylon sacks used for dumping bodies. Khalisia has confessed to killing 42 people, including his wife, and dumping their bodies in the quarry. However, his lawyer claims he was tortured into confessing. Khalisia appeared in Makadara court and was remanded for 30 days to allow for further investigations. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) continues to investigate the case, with two additional suspects being held for questioning. Public outrage has grown, particularly among women's rights groups, who have condemned the killings and called for thorough investigations.
