Delhi Blast Near CRPF School in Rohini; NSG, NIA Probe Possible Low-Grade Explosive
Oct 20, 2024, 07:27 AM
A blast occurred early Sunday morning near a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) school in the Prashant Vihar area of Rohini district in Delhi, causing damage to the school's wall, breaking windows and glass panes in the vicinity, and terrifying local residents. The explosion was reported around 7:47 am, prompting an immediate response from police, fire services, and forensic teams. No casualties have been reported. Authorities detected a foul smell at the site, and forensic experts collected samples, including a suspicious white powdery substance found near the wall. The National Security Guard (NSG) bomb squad, sniffer dogs, and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have arrived at the scene to assist in the investigation. CCTV footage captured the moment of the blast, and preliminary findings suggest the use of low-grade explosives, potentially a crude bomb made from substances like ammonium nitrate, phosphorus, chlorate, and hydrogen peroxide. The Ministry of Home Affairs has sought a report from the Delhi Police regarding the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
