Elon Musk Deploys Tesla Cybertrucks With Starlink to Provide Free WiFi in LA Wildfire Zones
Jan 13, 2025, 02:30 AM
Elon Musk has initiated a response to the wildfires devastating parts of Los Angeles and Malibu by deploying Tesla Cybertrucks equipped with SpaceX's Starlink technology to provide free internet and power to affected areas. The Eaton Fire and Palisades Fire have caused significant damage, resulting in 24 deaths. The Cybertrucks will be positioned in a grid pattern to maximize coverage, offering free WiFi to residents and emergency services. Musk has also announced that the deployment of these vehicles will cause delays in Cybertruck deliveries, as they are being repurposed as mobile base stations for Starlink internet terminals. Additionally, Tesla and SpaceX personnel are distributing snacks and beverages to support those impacted by the fires, and security personnel are accompanying the Cybertrucks. This initiative follows Musk's earlier announcement to provide free Starlink terminals to the region, highlighting the use of technology to aid in disaster response. The Altadena Mountain Rescue team has also received Cybertrucks to use as battery banks until power is restored.
