A San Francisco jury has convicted Nima Momeni, a tech consultant, of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Cash App founder Bob Lee. The verdict, reached after seven days of deliberation, carries a sentence of 16 years to life in prison. Momeni was found not guilty of first-degree murder, indicating the jury did not believe the killing was premeditated. The incident occurred on April 4, 2023, when Lee was found staggering on a deserted downtown street, later dying in the hospital from stab wounds. Prosecutors argued that Momeni planned the attack, driving Lee to an isolated spot under the Bay Bridge and stabbing him three times with a knife from his sister's kitchen, motivated by anger over Lee's alleged introduction of his sister to a drug dealer who gave her GHB and sexually assaulted her. Momeni claimed self-defense, asserting that Lee attacked him first after a dispute over drug use. Following the verdict, members of Lee's family accused the Momeni family of attempting to cover up the crime.
