Craig Melvin to Replace Hoda Kotb as 'Today' Co-Anchor with Savannah Guthrie Starting January 2025
Nov 14, 2024, 02:49 PM
Craig Melvin has been named as the new co-anchor of NBC's flagship 'Today' show, succeeding Hoda Kotb, who is leaving the program after nearly 17 years. Melvin, who has been with NBC News for nearly 14 years and previously co-anchored the 9 a.m. hour of 'Today,' will join Savannah Guthrie as co-anchor for the 7 and 8 a.m. hours starting in January 2025. Kotb announced in September that she would be departing the show, with her final day set for January 10, 2025. The announcement of Melvin's new role was made during the broadcast on November 14, 2024. Colleagues, including Al Roker and Hoda Kotb herself, expressed their support, with Roker saying, "I am so proud and so happy for you right now because you are so worthy of this." Kotb told Melvin, "You are literally made for this job." Melvin, a native of South Carolina, expressed that he is "beyond excited and grateful" for the new role.
