Philip Esformes, Convicted in Major Medicare Fraud and Freed by Trump, Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges
Oct 14, 2024, 07:45 PM
Philip Esformes, a Florida man convicted of one of the largest Medicare fraud cases in U.S. history, was arrested on Sunday in South Florida on domestic violence-related charges. In 2020, former President Donald Trump commuted Esformes's 20-year fraud sentence. Esformes had also pleaded guilty this year to a related crime. His latest arrest adds to the list of convicted felons who received clemency from Trump and have since faced new criminal charges, raising questions about the clemency process.
