Ukrainian Drone Strike Hits Russian Morozovsk Airbase in Rostov Oblast, Targeting Ammunition Depots
Aug 3, 2024, 02:09 PM
Ukrainian forces have reportedly launched a successful drone strike on Russia's Morozovsk Airbase in Rostov Oblast, causing massive explosions and significant damage. The airbase, home to the Russian 559th Bomber Aviation Regiment operating Su-34s, was targeted, leading to secondary explosions likely from aviation fuel and explosives. The strike reportedly hit ammunition depots, including guided aerial bombs, and oil storage facilities. Explosions at the base were heard from as far away as Sibir'ki. Additionally, Ukraine's General Staff confirmed attacks on other military targets in Russia, including oil depots and fuel storage facilities in three regions. Satellite imagery indicates widespread fires across the Morozovsk facility, located about 165 miles from Rostov-on-Don and 300 km from the frontlines.
