Six Former FSU Players Sue Coach Hamilton Over $1.5M Unpaid NIL Promises of $250K Each
Dec 30, 2024, 03:24 PM
Six former Florida State University basketball players filed a lawsuit on Monday against head coach Leonard Hamilton, alleging that he failed to fulfill promises of $1.5 million in Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) compensation. The players claim that Hamilton promised each of them $250,000 in NIL payments, which they never received. The complaint details that the team boycotted a practice last season, including before a game against Duke, in protest over the unpaid compensation. Among the players suing are Darin Green Jr., a former UCF guard, and Jalen Warley, who is transferring to Gonzaga. The players are represented by attorney Darren Heitner. The lawsuit underscores growing concerns regarding unfulfilled NIL promises within college athletics.
