Biden Administration to Restart CHNV Program Allowing Half a Million Migrants Amid Fraud Concerns
Aug 29, 2024, 05:36 PM
The Biden administration is set to restart a humanitarian parole program allowing migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to apply for entry into the United States with the help of a financial sponsor. This program, known as the CHNV program, was paused earlier this summer due to concerns about mass fraud in the application process. Despite these concerns, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) plans to resume issuing travel authorizations as soon as this week. The program had previously allowed nearly half a million migrants to enter the U.S. The decision to revive the program comes amid ongoing reviews of suspect applications.
