Meta to Cut 5% of Low Performers as Part of Plan to Reach 10% Attrition
Jan 14, 2025, 03:32 PM
Meta Platforms Inc. is planning to cut approximately 5% of its lowest-performing employees, a process internally referred to as "non-regrettable attrition," according to an internal memo sent to staff by CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The company intends to backfill these roles within the year. In the memo, Zuckerberg stated, "I’ve decided to raise the bar on performance management and move out low-performers faster." Meta aims to reach a total of 10% attrition by the end of the performance cycle, which includes about 5% non-regrettable attrition from 2024. The move targets employees who have been with the company long enough to receive a performance rating and is part of the company's efforts to improve overall performance and efficiency.
