Rep. Angie Craig Becomes Fifth House Democrat to Call on Biden to Withdraw from 2024 Race
Jul 6, 2024, 02:14 PM
Rep. Angie Craig of Minnesota has become the fifth House Democrat to call on President Joe Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race. Craig, who represents a Minnesota swing district, expressed concerns about Biden's ability to effectively campaign and win against Donald Trump, stating, 'I do not believe that the President can effectively campaign and win against Donald Trump.' Many frontliners were privately upset at the president doubling down on his candidacy and considered going public with their concerns. Craig joins a handful of Democrats calling for Biden to 'step aside as the Democratic nominee' and allow a new generation of candidates. Congress returns to Washington D.C. on Monday following the July 4 break.
