Ukraine Shoots Down 64 of 114 Russian Drones, Deploys FPV Drones Against Russian Forces
Nov 24, 2024, 04:51 AM
On November 22, Ukraine's Air Force reported that during a daytime drone attack, 114 Russian Shahed drones were launched against Ukrainian territory. Ukrainian defenses shot down 64 drones and suppressed 41 more via electronic warfare, leaving four drones still active within Ukrainian territory. In an overnight attack on November 24, Ukraine's air defense units reported downing 50 out of 73 Russian drones targeting Ukrainian sites, with 19 drones suppressed by electronic warfare, and over 10 drones targeting Kyiv destroyed. There have been no reports of casualties or damage. Ukrainian forces are increasingly deploying FPV (First Person View) drones against Russian military equipment and personnel. Notably, Ukrainian FPV drone units from the 47th Mechanised Brigade and the 82nd Air Assault Brigade have destroyed Russian armored vehicles, including BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles and German-made Marder APCs, as well as targeting Russian infantry in regions such as Vovchansk, Donetsk Oblast, and the Kursk Region. A Ukrainian FPV drone equipped with a mounted gun was also used to shoot at Russian positions, demonstrating innovative tactics. Conversely, Russian sources claim that their air defenses thwarted Ukrainian drone attacks, destroying 34 Ukrainian drones targeting Russian sites during the night.
