Mexico Launches 'Alert Button' App to Aid Migrants Facing U.S. Deportations Under Trump's Policies
Dec 27, 2024, 05:33 PM
Mexico's government announced the development of a mobile application, created by the Agencia Digital de Transformación, featuring an 'alert button' to assist Mexican migrants in the United States who are facing imminent detention or deportation. The app, set to be active from January, has been tested on a small scale with good results. It will allow users to send real-time alerts to their nearest consulate, family members, and the Mexican foreign ministry. Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente revealed that 329 legal advisors will be hired to provide legal support to migrants. The initiative aims to protect Mexican nationals amid concerns over mass deportations promised by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
