Three Israelis Killed, Seven Wounded in Shooting Attack on Highway 55 Near Kedumim Settlement
Jan 6, 2025, 08:37 AM
Three Israelis were killed and seven others wounded in a shooting attack targeting a bus and civilian vehicles near the Palestinian village of Al-Funduq in the occupied West Bank. The attack occurred on Highway 55, close to the Kedumim settlement. The Magen David Adom rescue service confirmed the deaths of two women in their 60s and a man in his 40s, with the bus driver listed in serious condition among the injured. The Israeli military reported that the assailants, identified as two Palestinian gunmen, fled the scene, prompting a manhunt with roadblocks and the encirclement of several nearby towns. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to pursue the perpetrators and hold them accountable, stating, 'No one will be spared.' The attack has been praised by Hamas as a 'heroic response' to ongoing conflicts, though no group has claimed responsibility. The incident is part of a surge in violence in the West Bank since the onset of the war in Gaza in October 2023.
