Ship Owner to Pay $101.98 Million in Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse Settlement
Oct 24, 2024, 11:05 PM
Grace Ocean Private Ltd. and Synergy Marine Group, the Singapore-based owner and operator of the cargo ship DALI, have agreed to pay $101,980,000 to settle a civil lawsuit brought by the U.S. Department of Justice following the collapse of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge in March. The settlement, announced Thursday, covers federal cleanup costs associated with the bridge's destruction but does not include funds for rebuilding the bridge, a project estimated to cost close to $2 billion. The collision resulted in six fatalities and halted maritime traffic through the Port of Baltimore until the channel was fully reopened in June. Maryland officials have filed separate claims seeking damages for reconstruction.
