Go-Ahead's £500 Million Order for 1,200 Wrightbus Electric Buses to Create 2,500 Jobs
Oct 8, 2024, 07:48 AM
Go-Ahead Group has announced a £500 million investment to purchase 1,200 UK-made electric buses as part of efforts to decarbonise its fleet. The investment, backed by the government, includes the creation of a new manufacturing line in partnership with Northern Ireland-based bus manufacturer Wrightbus, marking the company's largest ever order. This initiative is expected to create 2,500 jobs across the sector, improve air quality, and enhance bus services across the country. Transport Secretary Lou Haigh highlighted the government's determination to attract investment, grow the economy, and deliver better services.
