Panama to Begin Deportation Flights for Undocumented US-bound Migrants from Darien Jungle
Jul 23, 2024, 10:43 PM
Panama is set to begin deportation flights for undocumented US-bound migrants who have crossed the dangerous Darien jungle within the next two to three months. The flights, partly funded by the United States, are aimed at managing the ongoing migrant crisis in the Western Hemisphere. Newly-elected President Jose of Panama has referred to the crisis as a 'United States problem.' Washington has pledged $6 million for repatriation efforts. The deportation flights are currently voluntary, according to Panama’s chief of migration Roger Mojica.
