VisitSony to Raise PlayStation 5 Prices in Japan by 13,000 Yen on September 2
Aug 27, 2024, 08:37 AM
Sony is set to increase the price of its PlayStation 5 console in Japan by approximately 20%, or 13,000 yen, starting September 2, 2024. The standard version will now cost 79,980 yen, equivalent to about $551, while the digital edition will be priced at 72,980 yen, nearly $90 more than before. This marks the third price hike for the PS5 in Japan since its launch in 2020. Sony attributes the 19% increase to global economic fluctuations. The price adjustment will also affect all PS5 accessories and peripherals in Japan.
