Kraken Expands European Market with Acquisition of Netherlands' Oldest Registered Crypto Broker BCM
Sep 24, 2024, 09:30 AM
Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has announced the completion of its acquisition of Dutch cryptocurrency broker Coin Meester B.V. (BCM), one of the Netherlands' oldest registered crypto brokers. This strategic move strengthens Kraken's footprint in the European market, particularly in the Netherlands. The acquisition allows Kraken to expand its Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) services across several European countries, including France and Poland. Kraken already offers VASP services directly or through partnerships in Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, and France. This acquisition is part of Kraken's broader strategy to enhance its presence in Europe. According to Kraken’s European Managing Director, Brian, this move is significant for their expansion plans.
