Judge Dismisses Most Claims in GitHub Copilot AI Coding Assistant Lawsuit
Jul 10, 2024, 12:00 AM
A US judge has dismissed the majority of claims in a lawsuit brought by developers against GitHub Copilot, an AI coding assistant. The developers alleged that GitHub Copilot unlawfully copied their code. Out of the original 22 claims, only two remain. The judge noted that GitHub Copilot's code is not completely identical to the code generated by developers. This is not the first time Microsoft, which owns GitHub, has won a case involving Copilot.
