Zelensky Presents Five-Point Victory Plan, Urges NATO Invitation to End War by 2025
Oct 16, 2024, 12:09 PM
On October 16, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presented a five-point 'Victory Plan' with three confidential annexes to the Verkhovna Rada, aiming to end the war with Russia by 2025. The plan focuses on an immediate and unconditional invitation for Ukraine to join NATO, strengthening military and defense capabilities, non-nuclear deterrence measures, economic strategies, and post-war contributions to NATO. Some details remain classified. Zelensky emphasized that implementing the plan would render further Russian aggression pointless and urged Western partners to support Ukraine's NATO aspirations. The Verkhovna Rada unanimously backed the plan. Zelensky is also set to present the plan to EU leaders at the summit on October 17. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte acknowledged awareness of the plan, while Russia dismissed it as an escalation.
