US Lawmakers Urge Biden to Close Tariff 'Loophole' for Chinese Imports, Uyghur Slave Labor
Sep 12, 2024, 05:31 AM
A majority of Democratic U.S. House Representatives have urged President Joe Biden to use his executive powers to close a tariff 'loophole' for low-value packages imported from China. This provision has been beneficial for China’s e-commerce companies but has drawn criticism for being unfair. More than 100 U.S. lawmakers have also highlighted concerns about the loophole allowing clothing made with Uyghur slave labor to reach American markets. The call for action was made on Wednesday, requesting an executive order.
