Ugandan Opposition Leader Bobi Wine Shot in Leg and Injured by Security Agents
Sep 3, 2024, 05:40 PM
Uganda's main opposition leader, Bobi Wine, a former pop star, was shot in the leg and seriously injured by security agents on Tuesday. The incident occurred during a confrontation with police in Bulindo, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District, on the outskirts of the capital, Kampala. Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, was rushed to a hospital for urgent medical attention. His party, the National Unity Platform, has called the shooting an attempt on his life. The police, however, claim that Wine injured himself while getting into his vehicle and have promised to investigate the incident. Although the injuries are serious, they are not life-threatening.
