BSP Tamil Nadu Chief K. Armstrong Hacked to Death in Chennai; 8 Suspects Arrested

K. Armstrong, the Tamil Nadu president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), was hacked to death by a six-member gang near his residence in Perambur, Chennai, at around 7 pm. The assailants, who were on bikes, attacked Armstrong as he was entering his house. Following the murder, BSP workers and supporters staged protests outside the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital, where Armstrong's body was taken for autopsy, demanding immediate arrest of the accused and a CBI inquiry into the incident. The protests caused a traffic jam on Poonamallee High Road. The police have detained eight suspects in connection with the murder.
