Elderly Farmer Fakeerappa Denied Entry to Bengaluru's GT Mall for Wearing Dhoti, Sparks Protests
Jul 17, 2024, 08:29 AM
An elderly farmer named Fakeerappa, a septuagenarian, was denied entry into GT Mall in Bengaluru for wearing a dhoti and a white shirt. The incident, which occurred when Fakeerappa and his son went to watch a movie at the mall's multiplex, has sparked widespread outrage. Video footage of the incident has gone viral, leading to protests outside the mall. Protesters, including a group of farmers and a pro-Kannada organization, have gathered at the mall, many wearing dhotis in solidarity. The security guard at the mall gate barred the farmer from entering, allegedly citing his attire as the reason. Karnataka Labour Minister has assured action, calling the incident a shame and promising to investigate the matter.
