Oklahoma Sooners Secure First SEC Win with 27-21 Fourth Quarter Victory Over Auburn
Sep 28, 2024, 11:10 PM
No. 21 Oklahoma Sooners secured their first-ever Southeastern Conference (SEC) win by defeating Auburn 27-21. The game, held at Auburn, marked Oklahoma's first SEC road game. True freshman quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. led the Sooners, making history as the first Oklahoma freshman quarterback to win on the road in his first career start. Oklahoma rallied from an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit, highlighted by a crucial pick-six, to clinch the victory. The Sooners held Auburn scoreless at the end of the first quarter and managed to slow Auburn's momentum going into halftime. Despite trailing by four points at the end of the third quarter, Oklahoma's late fourth quarter rally secured the win.
