Arch Manning Shines After Quinn Ewers' Injury, Texas Leads UTSA 28-7
Sep 15, 2024, 12:09 AM
Texas Longhorns' quarterback Quinn Ewers left the game against UTSA early in the second quarter due to an injury at the 12:19 mark. Ewers, who had completed 14 of 16 passes for 185 yards and 2 touchdowns with 1 interception, was replaced by redshirt freshman Arch Manning. Manning made an immediate impact, throwing a 19-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Moore Jr. on his first play, putting Texas up 21-0. Later, Manning showcased his athleticism with a 67-yard touchdown run, the longest by a Texas quarterback since Vince Young in 2005. Manning's performance helped Texas to a 28-7 lead over UTSA with 11:07 remaining in the second quarter. Ewers returned to the sideline in street clothes and is not expected to return to the game.
