Old Rajender Nagar Flooding at 7 pm Claims Two Lives; Inquiry Ordered
Jul 27, 2024, 06:15 PM
A tragic incident occurred in Old Rajender Nagar, Delhi, where the basement of a UPSC coaching institute was flooded due to heavy rain and a possible drainage or sewer failure at around 7 pm. The flooding resulted in the death of two individuals. Local authorities, including Revenue Minister Atishi, have directed the Chief Secretary to initiate a magisterial inquiry and provide a report within 24 hours. BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj has criticized the AAP government, particularly CM Arvind Kejriwal and MLA Durgesh Pathak, for not addressing the drainage issues despite repeated requests from locals. AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak acknowledged the area as a low-lying region prone to waterlogging. Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi stated that the drainage or sewer failure led to a flash flood in the basement.
