Trevor Lawrence Suffers Concussion After Late Hit; Texans' Al-Shaair Ejected as Brawl Erupts

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was carted off the field after sustaining a concussion from a late and dangerous hit by Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair during their December 1, 2024 game. Lawrence was injured while sliding when Al-Shaair delivered an extremely late hit, leading to Lawrence being knocked unconscious and exhibiting concussion symptoms. Al-Shaair appeared shocked at being penalized and was ejected from the game. As he left the field, Al-Shaair was escorted by security while cursing at fans, who threw objects at him in anger. A brawl ensued between the two teams, resulting in multiple penalties and the ejection of Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones. Jaguars tight end Evan Engram was penalized but not ejected for defending his quarterback. There are calls for Al-Shaair to receive a multi-game suspension for the hit. Mac Jones replaced Lawrence at quarterback for the remainder of the game.
