Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh has been assassinated in Tehran, Iran, according to multiple reports from Iranian media and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The assassination, which took place at his residence, involved an improvised explosive device (IED) attack that also claimed the life of his bodyguard. Haniyeh was in Tehran to meet with the Supreme Leader and attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran's new president. The Revolutionary Guards confirmed the attack in an official statement.
