UN's IAEA Funded Russian Research in Occupied Crimea Since 2014
Oct 21, 2024, 12:45 PM
The UN's nuclear agency, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has been funding Russian state scientific research in Crimea since its illegal annexation by Russia in 2014, according to an investigation by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL). Internal documents from the IAEA reveal that at least two deals were signed with Russian research institutes for projects that included fieldwork in Crimea. This funding continued despite the IAEA's official recognition of Crimea as part of Ukraine.
