Supreme Court Grants Bail to BRS Leader K Kavitha, Sets Aside Delhi HC Order
Aug 27, 2024, 07:44 AM
The Supreme Court of India has granted bail to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha in cases related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. The court's decision overturns a previous Delhi High Court order that had rejected her bail plea. K Kavitha, who faced charges in corruption and money laundering cases investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), is required to furnish a bail bond of Rs 10 lakhs. She is also instructed not to tamper with evidence or influence witnesses. This development follows the completion of CBI and ED investigations against her. She shall be released forthwith and appear regularly in the trial court.
