Georgian Opposition Files Lawsuit Against 'Foreign Agents' Law Signed by 32 Lawmakers
Jul 30, 2024, 06:15 AM
The Georgian opposition has filed a lawsuit in the Constitutional Court against the controversial 'foreign agents' law. The opposition claims that the law violates Article 72 of the Constitution, which mandates that state bodies adhere to a Euro-Atlantic course. The lawsuit was signed by 32 opposition lawmakers on July 22. Additionally, three cases against the law will be consolidated by Georgia's Constitutional Court on July 30. Georgia's Justice Minister Rati Bregadze announced that the technical base is ready for CSOs and media to register as foreign agents, with a GEL 25,000 fine for failure to comply.
