Iranian Colonel Ahmadreza Afshari Dies After US-led Coalition Airstrike in Syria

Ahmadreza Afshari, a Colonel Guardsman and military adviser from Iran's Revolutionary Guard's Aerospace Force, has died following injuries sustained in Syria. According to reports from the semi-official Fars news agency and IRGC-affiliated media, Afshari was injured in airstrikes carried out by the US-led Coalition in Deir Ezzor, eastern Syria. The airstrikes occurred between late July and early August. Despite being transferred to Iran for treatment, Afshari succumbed to his injuries on Thursday. The death of Afshari was confirmed by the IRGC and reported by Iranian media. Revolutionary Guard Commander Hossein Salami acknowledged the incident.
