Ex-White House Official Indicted for Acting as South Korea Agent, Receiving $37,000 in Luxury Goods
Jul 16, 2024, 11:10 PM
Sue Mi Terry, a former senior official at the White House National Security Council and a former CIA analyst, has been indicted on charges of acting as an unregistered agent for the South Korean government. The indictment alleges that Terry, who also worked as a senior fellow for Korea studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, began operating as a foreign agent in June 2013, five years after leaving the CIA. She is accused of failing to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act and conspiring to violate that law. According to the indictment, South Korean intelligence officers provided Terry with luxury goods, high-priced dinners, and more than $37,000 in return for her actions. Additionally, she allegedly disclosed nonpublic information, including handwritten notes from an off-record meeting about North Korea policy with US Secretary of State Blinken, and advocated for South Korean policy positions. The indictment also mentions that Terry accepted a $2,845 Dolce & Gabbana coat, a $3,450 Louis Vuitton handbag, and several meals at Michelin-starred restaurants.
