Elon Musk Denies Report of Illegal Work in U.S.; Biden Criticizes Tesla CEO
Oct 27, 2024, 12:08 AM
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has been reported by The Washington Post to have worked illegally in the United States during the early stages of his career in the 1990s. The report alleges that after leaving a graduate program at Stanford University, Musk lacked the proper legal status to work when he launched his first startup, Zip2. Investors in the company were reportedly worried about "our founder being deported" and gave him a deadline to obtain a work visa. The revelation contrasts with Musk's current stance as a critic of illegal immigration and supporter of stricter border policies. He has become one of Donald Trump's biggest donors and campaign surrogates, reportedly spending more than $100 million to help Trump return to the White House. President Joe Biden commented on the allegations, stating that Musk was violating the law by working while on a student visa, and criticized him for speaking against illegal immigrants. Musk denied the allegations and accused Biden of lying.
