55-Year-Old Texas Man Arrested on Felony Stalking Charges for Sending Sexual Threats to WNBA Star Caitlin Clark in Indianapolis
Jan 13, 2025, 05:30 PM
Michael Lewis, a 55-year-old man from Denton, Texas, was arrested in Indianapolis on Sunday and charged with a Level 5 felony stalking after allegedly sending numerous threats and sexually explicit messages to WNBA star Caitlin Clark via social media. The messages, sent between December 16, 2024, and January 2, 2025, included threats such as driving around Clark's house multiple times a day. Lewis traveled to Indianapolis, where his IP address was traced to a hotel, and continued sending messages even after being confronted by police on January 8, claiming it was an 'imaginary relationship'. Clark expressed fear for her safety and altered her public appearances due to the threats. A stay-away order was issued, prohibiting Lewis from approaching Gainbridge Fieldhouse. If convicted, Lewis faces up to six years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
