ADL and American Jewish Committee Condemn Matt Gaetz's Expected Nomination Backed by GOP Congressman
Nov 14, 2024, 12:37 AM
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the American Jewish Committee have strongly condemned the expected nomination of Rep. Matt Gaetz to a high office, citing his history of antisemitic remarks. ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt stated that Gaetz has a long history of trafficking in antisemitism and should not be appointed to any high office, especially one overseeing the impartial execution of the nation's laws. The American Jewish Committee echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the need for someone at the helm of the DOJ who will tackle antisemitism, not peddle in it. The condemnation comes at a time of historic levels of antisemitism, and the organizations believe Gaetz's history of problematic remarks should be disqualifying. An antisemitic GOP Congressman has also strongly backed Gaetz’s nomination.
