NFL Stands by Jay-Z Partnership Amid Rape Allegations, Praises Social Justice Work
Dec 12, 2024, 01:22 PM
The NFL has stated that its partnership with Jay-Z's entertainment company, Roc Nation, will remain unchanged despite recent allegations against the rapper. Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has been accused in a civil lawsuit of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 along with Sean “Diddy” Combs. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell addressed the allegations, noting that the league is aware of the civil allegations and Jay-Z’s strong response to them. He emphasized that while litigation is ongoing, the NFL's relationship with Roc Nation, which produces the Super Bowl halftime show, will not change. The lawsuit claims that the assault occurred after the MTV Video Music Awards in New York. Jay-Z has vehemently denied the allegations, calling them 'heinous' and suggesting they are part of an extortion attempt. Additionally, Goodell praised Jay-Z and Roc Nation for their contributions to the NFL's social justice initiatives.
