Isaac Hayes Estate Sues Trump for $3 Million Over 134 Unauthorized Song Uses
Aug 12, 2024, 08:32 AM
The family of the late soul singer Isaac Hayes has filed a lawsuit against former President Donald Trump and his campaign for the unauthorized use of the song "Hold On, I'm Coming" at campaign rallies. The lawsuit, filed by Isaac Hayes Enterprises and represented by Walker & Associates, cites 134 counts of copyright infringement. The estate is demanding $3 million in compensation for the unauthorized use of the song, which has been played over 100 times at Trump rallies from 2022 to 2024. Despite previous requests to cease using the song, the Trump campaign continued to play it, prompting legal action. The lawsuit also asks for $150K every time the song is used.
