Iran Warns US and Israel of Retaliation Over Potential Attacks on Nuclear Facilities, Calls for Gaza Ceasefire
Oct 20, 2024, 07:33 AM
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has issued a stern warning to the United States and Israel regarding the potential consequences of any military action against Iran. Araghchi stated that anyone with knowledge of Israel's plans to attack Iran would be held accountable for any resulting damage. He emphasized that Iran is prepared for any scenario and has identified all potential targets in Israel, vowing to retaliate if Israel attacks Iranian soil, particularly its nuclear facilities. Araghchi also called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, condemning the violence and urging international action to prevent further escalation. In a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Istanbul, Araghchi highlighted a unified regional stance against Israel's actions and stressed the importance of peace. He warned that a comprehensive war in the region would inevitably involve the United States, which Iran does not desire. Araghchi condemned the assassination of commander Yahya Sinwar and discussed the situation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, noting that Israel relies on US-supplied weapons.
