Bengali Actor Sreelekha Mitra Accuses Director Ranjith Amidst Mollywood #MeToo Storm
Aug 29, 2024, 07:09 PM
Renowned Bengali actor Sreelekha Mitra has accused Malayalam filmmaker and former chairperson of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, Ranjith, of sexual harassment. This accusation comes amidst a growing number of allegations against Ranjith in the Malayalam film industry. A second complaint has been filed by a man named Sajeer, who alleges that Ranjith sexually abused him under the guise of offering movie roles. Another complaint involves a Kozhikode-based man who claims Ranjith sent his nude photos to actress and WCC member Revathi. An FIR has been registered against Ranjith based on these allegations, which include incidents dating back to a Bangalore hotel audition in 2012. The allegations have sparked a #MeToo storm in Mollywood, drawing attention to issues of sexual misconduct within the industry.
