Idaho Man Arrested for Planting IED on Train Car; Suspect Identified as 40-Year-Old Brent Sharrai
Jan 3, 2025, 12:54 AM
A 40-year-old man, identified as Brent Sharrai, was arrested in Payette, Idaho, after allegedly planting an improvised explosive device (IED) on a parked railroad car. Payette police officers responded on Wednesday to reports of a suspicious individual attempting to ignite an object near the train car. Upon arrival, the suspect had fled, but officers discovered the suspected IED. Footprints in the snow led police to a defunct pull-along trailer where Sharrai, who lived there, was found and arrested after a brief foot pursuit; he surrendered shortly afterward. Sharrai, who had outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest, has been charged with possession of a destructive device. The Nampa Bomb Squad was called in to handle the device.
